EU suspends Zim sanctions

European Union ministers have approved the suspension of most sanctions against Zimbabwe.

European Union ministers  have approved the suspension of most sanctions against Zimbabwe while leaving in place those directly targeting President Robert Mugabe.

The decision to suspend travel bans and asset freezes against eight people was green-lighted by EU agriculture ministers after the bloc's governments had informally agreed to the changes.

Restrictive measures remain in place against Mugabe and his wife, Grace.
