Ex-Springbok hooker sued for R1 million

A sports management company is claiming R1 million from former Springbok and Blue Bulls hooker, Gary Botha.

According to Afrikaans daily Beeld’s website, ABC Sports Management claims that Botha broke the contractual agreement he had with them when he signed for French club, Toulouse, in February 2011.

Botha’s legal representative, Advocate Lafras Uys, appealed to the North Gauteng High Court to dismiss the claim.

ABC claims that they had signed a two-year agreement with Botha on October 5 2009 to exclusively represent him.

Botha then signed a three-year deal with Toulouse in February 2011, before reportedly cancelling his contract with ABC via email on March 28 2011.

The company now wants compensation for part of that contract Botha signed with Toulouse.
