Two farmers shoot thinking an innocent people are monkeys.

Another innocent life was lost this week at the hands of a gun-wielding farmer who shoots without thinking.

On Thursday, Letsitele SAPS in Limpopo said a 55-year-old farm worker was shot by his 47-year-old boss who says he mistook his employee for a monkey.

The victim is said to have been riding his bicycle at the Novingila farm when he was shot in the head.

The suspect will be appearing at the Letaba Magistrates Court in Tzaneen today.

This incident comes after an 87-year-old farmer from Braemar, KwaZulu-Natal, appeared at the Umzinto Magistrates Court on Monday in a case of mistaken identity after shooting 12-year-old Bongumusa Duma saying he mistook him for a monkey.

According to The Mercury, Bongumusa is said to have been picking guavas up in a tree when he was shot.

The incident happened on Sunday and the farmer was arrested at the scene.

Colonel Thulani Zwane, spokesperson for KZN police said the case of murder was registered at Sawoti SAPS.

Both farmers were carrying licenced firearms but there is a strong appeal from the police for farmers to be certain before they shoot.
