She broke into the entertainment game like a young Brenda Fassie, featured on the hit single, Xigubu by Dj Ganyani to only quickly evaporate into thin air.

Some said she could not handle the fame because of her raw uncensored personality. Thandi Nakampe Mokgoankgoa also known as Fiesta Black is back with a new soulful, matured jazzy sound.

Fiesta Black explains that kwaito and house music were never her vibe and after Xigubu became a hit. Her record label, Muthaland Entertainment, owned by Lance Stehr demanded more hits which she failed to deliver. She recorded one demo album with Lance, which she says was just to figure out her style, which she now has found after Lance gave her creative right and some time to play around in the studio.

Fiesta says she is still as loud-mouthed as before but this time is avoiding negativity and bad press. “I have found myself and I am letting God take control,” adding that she has learnt a lot form humble artists like Nathi Mankayi and Vusi Nova who are under the same record label and she feels that now she is ready to conquer.

A name and release date for her album have not yet been set but we can expect her first single ‘Mama Wam’ and music video in a few weeks. Fiesta says the album will tell her story and stories of people close to her.
