Government would begin a final round of talks on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project on Tuesday, the presidency said.

The first meeting would be held with the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, spokesman Thabo Masebe said.

"This is one of a series of meetings. There will be a comprehensive statement [made] at the end of the entire process."

Government would also meet the SA Council of Churches and the Road Freight Association.

"We should be finished [with the meetings] in the next week," Masebe said.

On Thursday, the Constitutional Court ruled that an interim order granted by the High Court in Pretoria in April, which put the project on hold, be set aside.

It concluded that the High Court had not considered the separation of powers between it and the executive.
