After spending a night behind bars, Nkululeko "Flabba" Habedi's convicted killer, Sindisiwe Manqele, was on Thursday granted bail of R15 000 by the High Court sitting in the Randburg Magistrate's Court.

Dressed in the same clothes she was wearing during her murder conviction on Wednesday, Manqele was told she would be going home.

"I am inclined to grant her bail," Judge Solly Sithole said after hearing arguments between both the defence and the State.

He gave her heftier bail conditions.

"She must not be allowed to leave her Kempton Park residential address without the permission of the investigating officer," said Sithole.

During arguments, Manqele's lawyer had pleaded for her release, stating that she had to undergo a cleansing ceremony following the passing of her father four weeks ago.

Ruling on this, Sithole said: "For cleansing ceremony, that should be regulated. She cannot leave her home without permission from the investigating officer," he said.

While Manqele's lawyers had proposed that she be put under house arrest, Sithole said he did not believe that would be necessary, but she would receive a monitoring tag.

"She must be ready and willing to have a monitoring bracelet on her to ensure that she does attend sentencing day. She must be provided with a monitoring bracelet," he said.

Manqele was also expected to report to the police station on Mondays and Fridays.

Sithole wished her a merry Christmas before she was led down to the cells.

She was expected back in court on March 9 for the start of her sentencing procedures.

Ironically, this would the anniversary of which she stabbed Habedi in the heart following an argument between them.
