Florence's darkest hour

Surrounded by family and friends, actress Florence Masebe said a sad goodbye to her 18-month-old son, Prince Masakona Matsila.

The Motorcade outside the home of popular television actress in Bramley, north of Johannesburg, is a decidedly expensive one.

Top politicians, business people and celebrities dressed in black outfits emerge from a predominance of German sedans accompanied by the inevitable blue-light brigade – and comfort each other.

Health minister aaron Motsoaledi, ANC spokesman Zizi Kodwa, TV personalities Katlego Danke, Meshack Mavuso,  Nokuthula ledwaba,  Maduvha Madima, Liopelo Maphathe and Lebo “Elle” Tisane among others then join the sombre gathering at Bramley primary school and singing hymns. They’ve come to pay their last respects to 18-months-old Prince Masakona matsila, affectionately known as Masa, the son of TV star Florence Masebe, who drowned in the family’s swimming pool on Saturday, 14 November.
