Four children died in a fire at Gedleza, near Jozini, in KwaZulu-Natal.

Four children died in a fire at Gedleza, near Jozini, in KwaZulu-Natal, police said on Tuesday.

Colonel Jay Naicker said the children were alone in the house when it caught fire on Sunday night.

"The cause of the fire is not known at this stage," said Naicker.

Amkelwa Kwesaba, 19-month, Nkosingizwile Mazibuko, two, Noxolo Mazibuku, seven, and Sinegugu Mazibuko, 10, all died on the scene.

An inquest docket had been opened.
