Disney has recently agreed to literally let go of their huge hit, Let it go, by handing over the rights to the track to American television network, Fox. The network announced on Monday that Lea Michelle, better known as Rachel Berry in the comedy-musical series Glee, would perform the popular musical number from ‘Frozen’ during the final episode of the series.

Let it go features as a song in Disney’s 2013 animated feature, “Frozen”. The music and lyrics were originally composed and written by Kirsten Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. The American actress Idina Menzel is the voice behind the original version of the song which she sang in her role as Queen Elsa. Coincidentally, Menzel also played the role of Lea Michelle’s characters biological mother, Shelby Corcoran, in the Glee series.

Let it Go was awarded the Oscar for Best Original song for 2014 and has since been covered and performed by several different artists. This is precisely the reason that Glee’s producers have decided to feature their own version of Let it Go in the 6th season of the series. Lea Michelle hinted on Twitter that she would soon be performing the hit song by posting a picture of herself in a ball gown with the instantly recognizable lyrics as a caption, which sent her followers into overdrive. According to Entertainment Weekly, Lea’s Twitter clue was confirmed by the Fox television network a few days later when they confirmed on Monday that Lea would be performing Let it Go on an episode of Glee.

She was however very secretive during an interview with E! News in early September when asked about which Disney song she would be performing during the final season of Glee. When quizzed about which Disney song Glee viewers could expect to see performed, she answered: 'I was there last night singing the first Disney song we've ever done... A very popular Disney song.”

Glee’s final season is currently being filmed and will be aired in early 2015.
