Mark Harrison is no longer the coach of Golden Arrows after parting company with the Durban club, the Premiership strugglers have announced.

A statement from the Lamontville club today read: “The club and Mr Mark Harrison have agreed to part ways in the best interests of the team and wish each other the best for the future.

“The club has therefore appointed Shaun Bartlett and Bheka Phakathi as caretaker coaches.”

Speculation was rife over Harrison’s future at the weekend when the Englishman was not on the bench for Saturday’s 3-2 Premiership victory over Polokwane City in Umlazi.

Harrison was in talks at the weekend about his future with chairperson Mato Madlala reportedly withdrawing him from the dugout due to uncertainty over his future.

Harrison had been at the helm for just over four months after replacing Manqoba Mngqithi last October.

Abafana Bes’thende are bottom of the league table and in a huge relegation scrap. But the weekend victory drew them level on points with second-last placed rivals Free State Stars who they meet on Saturday.
