South African women in search of inspiration for a new hairstyle have a special treat in store.  Drum Magazine has teamed up with Rudisha Consulting Group to present the first ever African hair expo this August.

The Africa International Hair Extravaganza (AIHE) will take place from the 11th to 12th August 2012 at the Coca- Cola Dome in Johannesburg.

The expo, which will house exhibitors from both the hair and beauty industries, has attracted participants across the African continent including countries like Angola, Zambia and Nigeria.

The show will also feature sessions that cover grooming and styles for men.

“As this is the first hair extravaganza to be held on the African continent, we want to use this platform to highlight the importance of the hair industry to the economy. South Africa contributes about $9 billion to this $13billion industry, so it is fitting that we are country to host this inaugural event,” says Fatima Cele, Director and Founder of Rudisha Consulting Group.

Visitors will also be able to preview 2012 Summer/Spring hair trends alongside product demonstrations and get expert advice from hair consultants during a variety of workshops.

The show will run from 10H00 to 20h00 on Saturday 11 August and  09h00 to 18h00 on Sunday 12 August. Tickets are available from Computicket.
