There might be some truth in the sayings “bad luck strikes in threes” and “light at the end of every tunnel”. On the weekend of 6 July DRUM spotted a glimmer light in the troubled life of former Generations sweetheart Sonia Sedibe, aka Ntombi.

The actress, now a stay-at-home mom, tried to be incognito when she landed at King Shaka Airport in Durban. But DRUM spotted a noticeably slimmer, but radiant and bubbly figure in blue skinny jeans, a black jacket and a fashionable hip-hop-style hat passing through the airport.

Sonia had recently gone into a self-imposed hiatus because of the extreme public scrutiny regarding her reported ongoing divorce from advocate Leslie Sedibe, a court case over allegations of assault by her former maid Noleen Zhangara, being hospitalised and failure to recapture her once glittering acting career. To say it hasn’t been an easy year would be an understatement.

Amidall the rumours, the actress tried her best put up a brave front as tabloids had a field day. It was reported that on the domestic front things were getting worse, but the once-adored actress was still sharing her home with her husband. We couldn’t help but wonder what went wrong with Mzansi’s former fairytale couple.
