One of Jesus’ disciples, Simon Peter, is alive and kicking!

Peter Goieman, currently living in Mataffin, near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga Province, believes that he died 1 000 years ago and went to heaven, but was born again in 1958 because God had business with him, Mpumalanganews.co.za, has reported.

Now The 57-year-old Soweto-born man is determined to be the new foundation of Christ’s promised  church. “I lived in the era of Jesus Christ and died after writing two books in the Bible, the first and second epistle of Peter, and God said I should come back to fulfil the words Jesus uttered during my walk with Him,” he said referring to a scripture in Matthew 16:18 where Christ said, “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.”

On Monday morning he took journalists on a mountain-top tour, pointing them the places which he believes the Spirit of God showed to him – the graves of Deborah and Rebecca and the rock which Jacob slept on when he had a dream about angels ascending and descending from heaven on a ladder. He also pointed out a rock which he claims God told him was his altar.

Goieman is not the first person to claim a personal relationship with the people of the Gospels. In 2013 Moses Hlongwane, a man from Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal, claimed that he was Jesus Christ. In a media interview Hlongwane said that, like his namesake, he had spent years in the wilderness and has resurrected as the son of God.

“I will never die, as God gave me as a command,” said Hlongwane at the time.

Paul Sibiya is one of Hlongwane’s followers and contributes his full pension grant to him every month. Sibiya also abandoned his wife of 41 years to get closer to “Jesus. ”
