Here are some essential DOs and DON'Ts in caring for your braided hair.

While braids can be a protective style, not caring for them can lead to more harm than good being done.

Here are some essential DOs and DON'Ts in caring for your braided hair.

  • Be sure not to have braids that pull too tight at the hair and skin as that can leave you with a thinning hairline, breaking hair and an itchy scalp

  • Wash your braids regularly and be sure to change them after two to four weeks to encourage new growth.

  • Invest in hair oils.  Amla or Moroccan oil are good as they will help keep your scalp moisturised.
