Here are a few useful tips on how to ensure your afro remains fully hydrated and at its healthiest.

Natural hair, like all hair, requires care and effort. Most people aren't aware of their natural hair's dryness and often don't know how to remedy it.

Here are a few useful tips on how to ensure your afro remains fully hydrated and at its healthiest.

  • During summer, add a teaspoon of honey to your leave-in conditioner.
  • Add thick natural oils like castor oil or avocado oil to your moisturiser.
  • Ensure that your moisturiser has water listed as one of its first two ingredients, a marker of a truly nourishing product.
  • Re-moisturise short hair by spritzing with water, a light leave-in conditioner and sleeping with a plastic cap on at night.
  • Try to keep your hands out of your hair.
  • If you have very dry hair, use a thick deep conditioner as your leave-in after each shampoo.
  • Sleep with a satin or silk scarf or bonnet to seal in moisture each night.
