Friends relate stories about the life they shared with late Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere.

Simba Mhere was a loved man.

Speaker after speaker including family, close friends and politicians spoke of how humble and a gentle the late TV personality was during a somber yet poignant memorial service at the Rhema Bible Church, on Thursday.

ANC spokesman Zizi Kodwa who met Simba when he covered his wedding joked on how he mistook Simba for a bouncer when he met him. "I immediately called Sisi Bassie (Top Billing producer Basetsana Kumalo) and asked who this 'bouncer' was."

Kodwa also used the opportunity to speak out against the recent xenophobia attacks. "We are one continent and we should all embrace each other, he said.

Though each speaker was touching it was Simba's friend and colleague Jonathan Boynton-Lee whose tribute left many in tears. "Simba and I were going to start a business. I will miss him dearly," an emotional Jonathan said.

Simba's funeral will be on Saturday, starting from 9 am. -11am. The service will be at the Rhema Bible Church.
