Just like the proverbial tale of the prodigal son, Dumi Mkokstad's life has uncanny references to the Biblical tale.

Just like the proverbial tale of the prodigal son, Dumi Mkokstad's life has uncanny references to the Biblical tale.

Totally sold out to Jesus Christ and music right now, things haven't always been this good for Dumi.

In an interview with SABC 2's It's Gospel Time, Mkokstad admitted to having had met a lot of challenges coming up. Having had grown up in church, Dumi admitted to having had stopped attending at one point soon as he went to university.

"I was playing soccer a lot, busy with girls," he said. He explained how it's hard to discipline yourself when parents aren't around. "It becomes worse when you don't know Jesus," he added.

Claiming to have "prayed and sang" for his life, the Crown Gospel award winner told Move! that in 2013 he decided to give his life "back to God".
