Muvhango’s Themba Nofemele spills the beans on his surprise departure from the show

He was one of the heart-throbs on SABC2’s Muvhango with a huge following of female fans when suddenly and mysteriously he disappeared from our screens.

Bloemfontein-born actor ?Themba Nofemele seemed to have had a promising acting career until DRUM dropped the bombshell that the 35-year-old had been fired (Has Themba Been Booted?, 4 April).

Themba, of course, played Ranthumeng Mokoena, husband of Thandaza (Sindi Dlathu). At the time we asked him about his rumoured exit from Muvhango and the shocked actor said, “This is news to me. I was never told I was fired but I can confirm I’ve been home for more than a week focusing on my MCing and DJing.”

FOUR months later we meet up with the actor at the lavish Afrique Boutique Hotel in Ruimsig, west of Joburg, to catch up with what he’s been doing. Wearing jeans, an orange jersey and black casual sneakers, he oozes confidence as he walks over to greet us with a big smile.
