'I was never her toyboy'

His new album's about to drop, but before Lagosh gets back on the music scene there are those pesky rumours to be cleared up first.

Lagosh (born Tshepo Mashile) took a long break after rumours spread that he was the toyboy of Generations’ Sophie Ndaba, and he waited for the spotlight of the media to shift before resuming his career.

Now Lagosh has just wrapped up his latest solo album, the Cris J-produced Genesiqua, which will be on shelves by winter.

He rose to relative fame in 2010 when, as part of Afro Pop duo, Oh My Gosh, he released the Chicco Twala-produced album, Ke Sehlola. Former Idols contestant Mandla Power Simelane was the other half of the outfit, though both have since moved on.

We caught up with the 27-year-old to chat about his sabbatical, his return to the music industry and the truth about his relationship with Sophie Ndaba.
