IEC’s results centre now open

The official results centre for the 2014 General Elections in Pretoria was officially.

The official results centre for the 2014 General Elections in Pretoria was officially on Wednesday. Terry Tselane, the vice chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) explains that the centre is fundamentally about transparency and allowing as many stakeholders to have access.

“We’re accommodating 30 media houses, which is more than ever before,” he told DRUM.

He said all the stakeholders will have access to results as they come in. The centre will be open for the next ten days. Tselane said the building of the nerve centre was an epic event which took six weeks to build.

The centre has the capability to run wireless internet for 200 concurrent users.

IEC head Pansy Tlakula, referred to the centre as 'the rock'.

“We’re ready to deliver excellent service to more than 25 million voters,” said Tlakula.
