The spokesperson for the well-known Sakhumzi Restaurant in Vilakazi Street, Soweto, Archie Tsoku says the business is still continuing as usual. This is after the shooting that took place in the wee hours of Sunday morning when unknown gunmen shot a manager who died on the scene.

Tsoku said the manager was originally from Ghana but had been living and working in South Africa for years. He also revealed that before joining the Sakhumzi team in 2015, the deceased was teaching at Cofimvaba Primary School and Daliwonga High School – both in the Eastern Cape. They are withholding the name of the deceased until they inform his family.

“It is not easy to for us to cope after the tragic experience of the attack. It was just after we closed when these two armed, unknown guys knocked, wanting to come in. The manager refused them entry saying that the establishment is closed, just to hear what they have to say, little did he know that was going to be  his last statement,” Tsoku  said. He added that they were six in total and the four were waiting in a private vehicle.

The robbers ran away without taking or destroying anything from the restaurant.

Captain Mbense from Orlando Police station said no one has been arrested and there are no suspects as yet. They are still investigating the case and the motive is still unknown.
