Jabu “Shuffle” Mahlangu has made his return to top flight football after completing a move to SuperSport United until the end of the season.

Mahlangu has been training with the club since the start of the year. The former Bafana Bafana international was available for selection when Matsatsantsa played Platinum Stars at the Lucas Moripe stadium, on Wednesday night.

"It's something I'm excited about and now it has finally happened," Mahlangu said during his signing on Tuesday.

"I am very lucky because I got a second chance, at my age. I am happy that SuperSport has decided to give me another chance because I can see what the club are trying to do on and off the field. To be part of something with this growth is exciting to me."

Of his three-month contract, Mahlangu said he wants to help the club "grow" regardless of the length of his stay.

"I don't expect to come into this team and play in every single game. I don't expect to start. I have to work for that," he said. "It is a bonus they are willing to give me a chance. I've been lucky to be here and will do everything in my power to help the club in the last stretch of the league and Cup. I don’t see this as a short-term commitment. It may be short-term with me as a player, but I’ll be assuming other roles on the longer term with SuperSport United.”

Cavin Johnson expressed his delight with the new signing and confidence the inclusion of Jabu in the squad will motivate the team to move forward.

“This is an exciting day for the club, because as you know Jabu is a huge talent and can help fast track our younger players in terms of his vision and flair, and at the end of the day he can turn tight games into points for us and help us with a strong finish to the season” Cavin Johnson said.
