DRUM Magazine has teamed up with Nederburg winemaster Win Truter to bring you a sizzling wine experience at the 2012 TOPS Soweto Wine Festival.

As one of the festival sponsors, DRUM will set up a stall from which wine enthusiasts will taste, enjoy and learn more about wine pairing when the festival kicks off at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto Campus from 06 to 08 September.

In its 8th year running, the wine festival is expected to attract about 9000 wine connoisseurs and newbies alike who will get to taste over 900 wine labels.

“People can expect an introduction into food and wine flavour pairings and how to then build onto that. I will be working with Wim Truter from Nederburg and we have already sat and discussed the flavour pairings that we will be doing with some red and white wines,” said DRUM Junior Food Editor Lungile Nhlanhla.

“Our stall will be running from Thursday to Saturday which is the whole duration of the Festival and it will be in the evenings from 18h00 to 22h00.”

Tickets are priced at R120 for a day or R280 for the entire three-day festival. The ticket cost includes a free wine tasting glass, a wine buyer’s guide, a Nederburg Wine and Food Theatre experience, a lesson on how to kick-start a career in the wine industry and a chance to win over R100 000 in prizes.

The festival proceedings will be covered on DStv’s Food Network.
