HE was “gun-toting”, “trigger-happy”, “jealous” and “combustible”. And if he hadn’t killed Reeva Steenkamp, it would have been someone else “sooner or later”.

This is how June Steenkamp, mother of Reeva Steenkamp has described jailed Oscar Pistorius.

In an exclusive interview with The Times, Steenkamp (68), said Oscar shot his girlfriend in a jealous rage, then finished her off with three more bullets so she “couldn’t tell the world what really happened”.

In the trial which lasted for 20 months until Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison for culpable homicide, the “Blade Runner” argued that he had mistaken his girlfriend for an intruder.

But June Steenkamp told the newspaper that she was convinced he lied in court because he knew who he was aiming at when he fired four hollow-tipped bullets through a locked bathroom door and “blew the brains out of her skull”.

In her book Reeva: A Mother’s Story, Steenkamp constantly refutes Pistorius’s defence.

In one section she says: “He said pulling the trigger was ‘an accident’. What? Four times an accident?

“He said Reeva did not scream, but she would definitely have screamed. I know my daughter and she was very vocal.”
