The book is already causing issues and it hasn't even been released.

Late last week reports emerged that late statesman Nelson Mandela's widow Graca Machel was considering suing his doctor, Dr Vejay Ramlakan over his upcoming book 'Mandela's Last Years'. Machel said she considered the book a breach of patient-doctor confidentiality and was thinking of taking legal action against Dr Ramlakan.

Dr Ramlakan, who is a former SANDF Surgeon General has come forward to say that he had received permission from the Mandela family to write and publish the book.

"I would not like to disclose the dynamic of the family and who requested us. I think it is irrelevant. We have that we received permission from the family," Dr Ramlakan told ENCA.

On whether his widow Graca Machel had given permission or ever been consulted when the book process was being done, Dr Ramlakan did not say. He however did say; "Let me say all parties who needed to be consulted were consulted, all from a point of view of publishing, and (we got) advice from publishers, lawyers as well."

The book is meant to be out soon.
