Two weeks after her boyfriend was brutally gunned down at her mother's house, singer Kelly Khumalo made her first public appearance at the Feather Awards on Wednesday evening.

The singer was one of the earliest personalities to arrive, to much fan fare.

Dressed in a black and white gown, she told DRUM was from fashion label Machere, the diminutive star posed for cameras like a pro on the red carpet. Her hair was styled in a funky Mohawk .

She was seen accepting hugs from other attendees who seemed to offer words of support.

Speaking to DRUM she said she had come to the event to support her friend.

'This is my friend's event and it's very close to his heart,' she said.

Later on in the evening the 'Asine' singer stepped on to the podium much to the audience's surprise, which could be heard speaking in hushed tones when she stepped on to stage.

Kelly, along with Dion Chang, presented the Role Model of the Year award, which went to TV presenter Zizo Beda.
