The first black person to win SA Idols and successful recording artist, Khaya Mthethwa has added pastor to his impressive repertoire.

Daily Sun reports that Mthethwa has moved back to KZN to follow in his father's footsteps who is a pastor at the Oasis Church in Umlazi, Durban.

"My dad has been grooming me for the past ten years. Now is the right time for everything to happen," he revealed to the site.

And it seems this has come as no surprise to the church's congregation.

"People who know me are aware that this has been my journey for the past 18 years," he says as quoted by the daily.

"I'm honoured to have been entrusted to lead the people," he further added.

Not to worry, Khaya is still going to fit an album - which he wants to release in June 2016 - in between being a youth pastor.

"I have been working on some new music. I'm also planning to record a DVD towards the end of the year which will give people a snippet of my new music," he told the People's Paper.

It's exciting to see someone remember how important their roots are despite all the popularity and fame.

We wish Khaya all the best on his new journey.
