#KnysnaFire continues to rage on

Over 10 000 people have been evacuated

The wild fires that started spreading in the Southern Cape and resulted in evacuations, road closures, and many homes being gutted, are still continuing. Firefighters are still struggling to control the wildfires in Knysna along the Garden Route.

By the early hours of today over 10 000 people were evacuated out of Knysna. Knynsa Mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies said in the 45 years she has lived in Knysna she has not seen such devastation.

"I ask each of you to send positive thoughts and prayers to Greater Knysna residents. My heart is broken more than I can say," Mayor Bouwer-Spies said about the situation.

There are reports of some people who have passed away and others missing (numbers not verified yet).
