Legendary kwaito musician Senyaka Kekana has passed on.

Legendary kwaito musician Senyaka Kekana has passed on.

Thula ‘Senyaka’ Kekana's family confirmed on Wednesday that he had been in a comma for the past week; he passed away at Kopano Hospital in Vereeniging this morning.

Family spokesperson Papa Tladi, says he had been diagnosed with pneumonia and his condition deteriorated over the past 48 hours.

There was also a case of sugar diabetes detected but at this point it is unclear what the cause of death is. At the time of his passing he lived with his partner in Soweto. Funeral preparations are currently underway. Senyaka first came to the limelight in the 80s and is responsible for hits such as ‘Chisa Mpama’, ‘Romeo Wang Kolota’ and ‘Maponapona Satane’ amongst a few. Senyaka, who was 58, leaves behind two children a boy and a girl, two brothers and two sisters. Minister of  Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula sent his condolences on Twitter on Wednesday.

Tributes came in fast from shocked fans who could not believe the rapper had died.
