LIFETIME has revealed that a biopic detailing the life of R&B sensation Toni Braxton will be showing on our screens by the end of the month. The biopic titled Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart will follow the seven-time Grammy Award-winning R&B star’s life struggles

These include her battle with lupus, a chronic and often fatal immune system disease where white blood cell responsible for fighting off diseases start attacking healthy cells in the body. Other celebrities with lupus include the late music icon Michael Jackson and singer and actress Selena Gomez.

The movie will also tell the story of how Toni was discovered by LA Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and difficulties that came with that, as well as how she filed for bankruptcy twice, her very public divorce and her son’s autism.

Newcomer Lex Scott Davis will star as Toni.

“What seemed difficult to approach at first ended up being natural for me,” says Lex, when DRUM asks how it was playing a renowned artist. “She is very relatable so it wasn't hard playing her as I thought it'd be. It’s still a lot of pressure though!”

Toni is the executive producer of the film.

Catch Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart when it premieres Sunday, March 27 at 8 pm on Lifetime (DStv 131)
