Grade 12 pupils in Limpopo were not affected by the textbook saga and were ready for their final exams, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said on Thursday.

"Only Grades 1, 2, 3 and 10 were affected by lack of learning materials. Grade 12 pupils were not affected and are ready," she told reporters in Pretoria.

A total of 78,182 full-time and 14,584 part-time candidates in Limpopo would sit for the exams due to commence next week Monday.

The province has been marred by non-delivery of textbooks this year, with the department missing numerous delivery deadlines.

Section27, a non-governmental organisation, took the department to court to force it deliver the books to Limpopo schools.
