Lindiwe's Choice

Lindiwe makes her choice and it will take you by surprise.

Is Khulani the one for me or is it Senzo? Lindiwe thought to herself as she drove home.

Talking to Nonzwi had helped her to get a better perspective of things. She’d phone Senzo and have a meeting with him earlier than planned.

“Why are we meeting so early in the morning?” Senzo asked when they met.

“I bet you were dreaming about me all night long.”

“We can’t keep seeing each other,” said Lindiwe. “It never worked back then and I doubt if it ever will. I’ve moved on.”

“What a shame,” Senzo said. “We could have had a great life together. So you’d choose an old man over me?”

“A man of 35 is not old,” said Lindiwe. “I hope you’ll find someone who’ll love you the way you deserve. I’ve got to go now.”

Happy that she’d done the right thing, Lindiwe drove to her appointment with Khulani at their favourite restaurant.

“You look great,” Khulani told her.

“Thanks,” Lindiwe said as she took her seat. “I’ve got something to tell you.”

“Yes my dear, what is it?” Khulani asked.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t keep this,” Lindiwe took out the necklace and the engagement ring from her hand bag. “I’m not ready for marriage. I’m really sorry for wasting your time – but I think it’s better to be honest now than to divorce later.”

Lindiwe said good-bye and left. She’d decided to let both men go – and now she was free to grow up, at her own pace.
