Lucas Maloma’s Ingoma gold

When gospel newcomer Lucas Maloma released his debut album, Melodi, the last thing he expected was to nab a Best Praise Album gong at the third annual Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingomas) on 27 August.

Lucas Melodi

Maloma choose to sing purely in his mother tongue Sepedi, and since the release of his album he has been touring all over Mzansi.

“My album is called Melodi and it's my first one, and to actually win an award for it is humbling, I would like to thank God for the strength and talent,” he says.

He says his strengths are singing and dancing. "The album was produced by Ghanaian producers and going forward I want to work with African producers and singers," he tells us.
