Rapper Macklemore, who won three Grammy Awards on Sunday has apologised to rapper Kendrick Lamar, who he says was robbed for not winning a Grammy.

Weeks before the awards ceremony, Grammy voters were in a debate over whether or not the Macklemore should even be considered in the rap categories because of his mainstream appeal, reports necolebitchie.com.

When he won, there was as an uproar on social meadia. Macklemore responded by sending Lamar an SMS, which he posted on Instagram saying he is sorry.

The SMS said: "You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was going to say that during the speech. Then the music started playing and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and a friend. Much love."

Lamar has not said anything about the Grammy snub.
