Generations spokesperson Gaaratwe Mokhethi confirmed she had been released to the soapie because her character's story had come to an end

When Mahlatse spoke to Move Magazine, she told the magazine about her character, she said that: "It was very heavy. I had to do research about human trafficking, and to speak to people who have been molested before," she explained.

She also said that her character is on hiatus at the moment and that she isn't sure for how long: "It is not clear at the moment. I can say my character is on a break. I don't know for how long," Mahlatse said.

Speaking to TshisaLive, Gaaratwe told the paper that Mahlatse's character faced a number of difficulties, from being homeless to getting kidnapped and forced into prostitution, and Gaaratwe said that the show's writers had run out of ideas of what more to do with her character.

"When you have a character who goes through so much, it is difficult to have them return to a normal life. That was the challenge we had with Xolelewa," Gaaratwe explained.
