Man arrested for drugs at King Shaka Airport

A man was arrested at the King Shaka International Airport in Durban for possession of cocaine with a street value of R600,000.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the King Shaka International Airport in Durban for possession of cocaine with a street value of R600,000, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said the man was arrested on Monday. "The Bolivian man who was on a flight from Brazil via Dubai was arrested when he arrived at 5pm." Zwane said the police and customs officials had already received information that the drugs were en-route to Durban. "The suspect was identified and intercepted. His luggage was searchedand officials found two parcels containing a total 2kg of cocaine with a street value of approximately R600,000."

He was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. He was due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
