Vilakazi was sentenced to life as well as 36 years.

A self-proclaimed Satanist with “666” tattooed on his forehead has been jailed for three murders he committed on apparent instruction from “the beast”, reports said on Thursday.

Themba Vilakazi, 33, claimed that he killed the three people in 2005, including 11-year-old Raipela Aaron Masango, because he was a Satanist and “I receive instructions from the beast on who to kill”.

Vilakazi was sentenced to life as well as 36 years for the murders and was already serving 15 years for raping a man.

Prosecutor Bakedi Moake said the first victim was an unknown man who was stabbed 54 times on July 23, 2005. Michael Mokaba was killed on August 11 and had been stabbed 24 times,Netwerk24 reported.

Mokaba had apparently spotted Vilakazi and others practicing voodoo near Pretoria Zoo. The group grabbed the victim and stabbed him multiple times in the neck and chest.

Vilakazi was arrested in 2012 when a policeman on patrol in Pretoria became suspicious when he saw the suspect walking through the city’s streets. He was arrested and drugs were found on him.

DNA tests linked Vilakazi to three murders, The Times newspaper reported.

Vilakazi was found to have faked a mental illness and members of the Occult Killing Investigative Team had disproved his theory of being a Satanist, reported the Pretoria News.
