Masego "Maps" Maponyane has been having quite a good year so far and there's something new to add to the list.

Maps will be playing host on ANN7's show "I am South African" which is a build up of the channel's South African of the Year awards.

In a statement, Maps seemed happy not only hosting the show but what it is based on.

"Some of these people sacrificed a lot to be where they are", Maponyane said.

"More than anything, "I am South African" is about promoting a narrative of positivity. The show will also give viewers a more in-depth understanding of the journeys, passions and sacrifices of the nominees. This will help to inform viewer's choices in voting for their favourite personalities. "

The show's executive producer Fungayi Kanyuchi is also as excited.

" Having a well read and rounded host like Maps hosting the show is an indication of the higher level at which we are pitching the second season.

"Maps is an all-rounder able to stir the daily conversations that will ignite debate, inspire and entertain our viewers."

The show will be aired from July 13 at 6pm on ANN7
