Kaizer Chiefs were eliminated from the Caf Confederations Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs were eliminated from the Caf Confederations Cup on Sunday, following a 3-1 aggregate loss to Ivory Coast side ASEC Mimosas in Abidjan.

Trailing 2-1 on aggregate, Chiefs traveled to the former Ivorian capital without head coach Stuart Baxter, who remained in South Africa to prepare the rest of the Soweto outfit for their next Premiership clash -- with Free State Stars -- on Wednesday.

Instead, assistant coach Doctor Khumalo was put in charge, leading a group of only 13 players, with just two substitutes named on the bench.

Mimosas stole the lead and sealed Chief's fate in the 78th minute, courtesy of a goal from Boha Koffi.

Chiefs now have the league and Nedbank Cup to defend back home, and return to South Africa on Tuesday looking to bounce back and keep themselves in the hunt for a shot at the Premiership title against Stars.
