Miracle conjoined twins separated 19 years ago

LOOKING at the brighteyed, happy faces of American twins Tiesha and Iesha Turner, you’d never say they were born as conjoined twins.

Separated at 13 months, they will be 20 years old this month and they’ve been called a living miracle ever since their history-making separation surgery back in 1992. Even today, successful separation is rare and the odds are stacked against such twins, with the overall survival rate between five and 20 per cent.

But these enchanting twins, who were born fused from chest to abdomen, have managed to survive despite having once shared a coronary tissue wall, liver and some intestines.
