My best day ever 3/5

Sara couldn’t wait to tell her friend Lerato about the new guy she’d met at the library.

You couldn’t stop raving about ‘Mr Special’ last night, about how you connected and how funny he is. Now I gotta go, girl, so ’bye!” Sara set off for lectures.

She caught up with Lerato at the college gate and they sat chatting before their 10 am class. Sara tried her best not to bring up ‘Mr Special’ again, so she asked Lerato how she was doing.

“You know how it is. I’m a bit grumpy. What with stupid Jack’s awful singing and your early-morning wake-up call, I couldn’t get back to sleep.” Sara laughed and said, “I’m sorry, girl. And who’s cousin Jack? You’ve never told me about him. What does he do?” “Oh, he’s just an irritating layabout,” said Lerato. “A family hanger-on.”

The two friends went their separate ways and met up after their last lecture for lunch. They went to a restaurant where Lerato was a part-time waitress. “It’s a good thing that you work here,” Sara said. “It’s always nice to get a discount.” “Well, it’s good having a friend like you, because it’s always nice being treated to an ice-cream every once in a while,” Lerato said. They both laughed and licked their strawberry ice creams. “So, are you excited?” Lerato asked. Sara giggled and said, “If you mean about going to the library, of course I am. This guy really has an effect on me, you have no idea.

If you weren’t working you could come with me and meet him.” “I have a better idea,” Lerato told her. “Why don’t you come to my place after meeting up and tell me all about him. My shift will be over by then. Listen – you’ve never been to my house and I’m tired of your promises. Now or never, girl! You have to come meet my mom.” “All right,” said Sara.

“I’ll call you when I’m done at the library.” “Okay, now go and see Mr Special Guy!” Sara caught a taxi to the library. He was waiting at the bench where they’d sat the day before.
