Emeritus Desmond Tutu turns 82 today President Jacob Zuma has wished Nobel Peace Prize winner the Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu a happy birthday as he turns 82 today. “On behalf ofgovernment and the people of South Africa, we wish Archbishop Tutu a joyous occasion as he celebrates his 82nd birthday today.

We wish him good health and a long life so that he can continue contributing to nation building and social cohesion, which he continues to do even in retirement,” said President Zuma.

New appointment

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu has appointed Peggy Nkonyeni as the new Education MEC. Nkonyeni the former Speaker of the KZN Legislature takes over the post which was left vacant by Mchunu when he was appointed Premier of the Province.

Larsen quits at Celtic

Head coach of Bloemfontein Celtic Clinton Larsen has resigned. Without citing reasons for his resignation, Larsen had this to day:

“The time is right for me to leave and I wish the club everything of the best.

I feel personally it is the right time to give someone else an opportunity to help the club grow.”
