No celebration bash for the ANC

The ANC will not be popping champaign corks to celebrate its election victory. At least not yet.

Information has been circulating on social media, suggesting cancellation of the African National Congress (ANC) victory party.

ANC spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa says while the ANC traditionally throws a bash after the elections to thank those who have assisted during the election, no plans have been finalised this time around.

Kodwa says this is because the party has been immersed in campaigning in the build-up to the elections.

This statement comes after the ANCYL leadership issued a statement saying that it would not attend any victory parties.

This is because the party has not done well in Gauteng, which is also the seat of its national headquarters.
