Midfielder Yola Jafta will not be replaced in the national squad for the African Women's Championship, Banyana Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza confirmed on Thursday.

Jafta returned home from Equatorial Guinea on the eve of the competition after picking up a hamstring injury.

"We have looked at our options and decided not to call for a replacement, so we will choose our starting line up from the 20 players available," Mkhonza said.

"Injuries have plagued Jafta this year, and we all know she was also sidelined from a few camps in the build-up to the London Olympics, but we wish her well in her recovery."

The Banyana medical team was also keeping a close eye on midfielder Nocawe Skiti who was battling with tonsillitis.

Banyana open their continental championship campaign against hosts Equatorial Guinea in a Group A clash in Malabo on Sunday.
