If your child is starting grade one or grade eight in 2017 in Gauteng, then you can pre-register online as from today.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s (GDE) online registration website went live yesterday, meaning parents no longer have to fill in forms or queue for hours to get their child into a school. The pre-registration will be open on the website until 18 April and applications open the next day.

If you have a desktop or smartphone you can go the site and register your details to get a username and password. Then you can complete the early bird online pre-registration which is open until 18 April.

You will still need to go to the school before 26 May to submit your I.D. document, your child’s birth certificate and your proof of address (home or work) for the area you fall under.

Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive an SMS or email with an automated waiting list number so you can view your application online.

Go to the GDE’s admission site on www.gdeinfo@gauteng.gov.za  to start your submission or call them on 0800 000 789 for more information.
