Back to the City Hip Hop festival organisers have released a statement expressing their shock after AKA announced on social media that he would no longer be performing at their event.

DRUM spoke to the organiser of the festival Osmic Menoe who aside from the statement also added that AKA posted his press release stating that he would no longer be performing at BTTC at 5pm on Monday and they were only informed at 5:20 PM by his management.

“AKA was not going to be an opening act for the other international artists, we had a special campaign planned for him” said Menoe.

They also added that they were still in negotiations with AKA’s management and were discussing the details when the rapper took to social media with the statement.

Menoe also mentioned how every year AKA always pulls a stunt to draw attention and they have learnt not to panic “Everything is still going as planned because the show was never about AKA, but about our love for Hip-Hop our supporters,” he added.

Back to the City Hip Hop festival will take place on 27 April 2016 at Mary Fitzgerald Square on Freedom Day.
