A documentary about the rise and fall of the convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius is in the works.

It’s been revealed that Paul Kruger of Hartiwood Films and Deepend Films’ Paulene Abrey have started pre-production on Beyond Reasonable Fact. The documentary will possibly be a three-part series exploring the events leading to the tragic Valentine’s Day 2013 killing of Reeva Steenkamp.

It’s said that the production houses have received the rights to produce the doccie, based on Mandy Wiener and Barry Bateman’s best-selling book Behind the Door: The Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp Story, from Pan Macmillan South Africa.

Wiener and Bateman will be working with the filmmaker giving their insights to the killing. According to Paul, the pair reported on the trial for EWN and Bateman was the first journalist on the scene.

“While their book will form the factual basis for the documentary, our intention is to examine the personalities involved in a holistic way to try to understand what led to the tragedy.”

The producers have secured exclusive interviews, but will reach out to all parties in an effort to humanise everyone involved.
