Penny’s racist behaviour to be investigated

Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu has instructed the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) to investigate Penny Sparrow

– the Durban estate agent who referred to beachgoers in the province as “monkeys” – as soon as possible and to provide a report on action to be taken against her.

Sparrow made headlines this weekend when she posted the shocking comment on social media. A meeting with relevant role players, including Sparrow’s former employer, will take place today.

Sisulu’s spokesperson, Ndivhuwo Mabaya, said all Estate agents are required to register with the EAAB so they can legally practice as agents. “The registration is in terms of the EAAB Act, all applicable regulations and other laws of the land,” he said.
