Orlando Pirates is set to arrive back home on Tuesday morning, as they return from Egypt where they lost in the final match of the African Champions League.

The Mighty Buccaneers lost 0-2 to Al Ahly in Cairo, aggregate score to 3-1, the first leg ended 1-1 in Soweto.

Pirates coach Roger de Sa paid tribute to his players who he said had made a formidable journey to reach the final of Africa’s premier club competition.

“If you had told me ten months ago that we would be playing in the Champions League final, l would have laughed at you. Not only did we get to the final but to do so after knocking out the likes of TP Mazembe, Esperance and emerge from a group with Zamalek and Al Ahly speaks volumes about the tenacity and ability this Pirates team. I would even say we overachieved in this year’s Champions League campaign,” said Roger.

The team is expected to land at OR Tambo International Airport at 10.45.
