The South African Police services is mum on allegations that the murder docket of slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirate’s captain Senzo Meyiwa is missing.

Rumours persists, despite police denial, that the high-profile case is in shambles .

DRUM has received information from several sources that the docket has since disappeared.

Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale, the spokesperson of the national police commissioner, however, says it is not true that the docket has gone missing.

‘’There is a lot of speculation out there. It will serve no purpose to respond (to your questions about the missing docket). Once we have reached a stage where we can, we will provide an update to the public, we will certainly do so,’’ says Makgale.

He says the investigation is going well. However, it should be noted that this is a complex case.

“We appeal to the nation to give the police time to conduct this investigation thoroughly. We, just like everyone who admired Senzo, want to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,’’ says Makgale.

But one of the detectives who is in the task team appointed by national commissioner Riah Phiyega, says the investigation is ‘’a mess’’

The detective, who cannot be named, says 14 people were taken in and interrogated regarding the murder of the soccer star.

‘’Zanokuhle Mbatha was only one of suspect to be arrested. I’m sure there will be some civil suits filed by some of the people who were arrested. To answer your question about the missing docket, all I can tell you is that the docket is a mess –if it is still there. There too many police officers appointed to investigate the case and it was bound to end up in shambles. Egos clashed, we didn’t work in harmony and now some want to pull out of the investigation because they don’t get along fine with other detectives. It’s a mess.’’
